Honesty comes first in any relationship. And sure, little white lies told in order to protect your privacy and independence are fine on occasion. But you can’t make last long your relationship based on lies. You should respect each other’s that what’s matter in any relationship. Here are some reasons why you should not  lie to your partner.
If you think that your partner could not find out your lie, than you are wrong. They will eventually find out and it may not be right now,It may not even be tomorrow and it might not be next month but for sure they will find out someday. So, there is no need to lie.

Do not hide anything, you should be able to tell them
Of course, you marry someone because you have trust in them. Then there’s no need to hide anything from them. You should trust them and feel free to tell them anything.
This will crash down your relationship
If you are continuously lying then for sure you will lose the trust of your partner. Because things are not same when someone constantly lies. Eventually, it could cause your relationship to crash down.
You will get respect no more
Respect is the most important thing in any relationship. And, you can lose that respect when you lie to your partner. Because anyone won’t give respect a person who lie to them.
No one will believe a liar, even when they tell the truth
Why someone will believe in a liar because they don’t deserve that. It’s hard to believe even they are telling the truth and it takes time to believe them again. If one of the partner is telling truth, other still have doubts.
You will get in to a deep trouble
Not to mention the fact you will be in deep trouble when you get caught. even if you do not get in deep trouble, surely, the other half is thinking about the lie that you told them. It will make you feel little when you get caught lying and it could be very embarrassing for you.

Wake up to the world by Joyce Meyer.

Wake Up to the Word!

by Joyce Meyer
Words are powerful. With one word, God can change our lives and we can help change the course of someone’s day. Within one word, we can find encouragement and hope!
Proverbs 25:11 says, A word fitly spoken and in due season is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
This verse is the inspiration behind my devotional, Wake Up to the Word. My hope is that it takes you deeper into God’s Word, providing true and pleasant thoughts for you to meditate on during your own devotional time.
Each day focuses on a single word and its definition, sharing a relevant Bible verse and some Bible-based encouragement. Here’s a little look inside to help you think in terms of and in full agreement with God’s Word.
Mercy: That benevolence, mildness or tenderness of heart that disposes a person to overlook injuries or to treat an offender better than he deserves.
No matter how hard we try to do what is right, we are always going to have some flaws. But in our flaws, God demonstrates His amazing mercy in our lives. And every time we experience the mercy of God, we are drawn closer to Him.
Don’t keep score of your mistakes any longer. If God isn’t counting, why are you? The score doesn’t matter, because whatever you do right, God gets the glory for it—and whatever you do wrong, only God can fix it. So whether you do right or wrong, you are in Christ and you belong to Him.
Simply love Him the best you can and trust Him to take care of all things. Be happy in God’s love and acceptance, enjoy His mercy and forgiveness, grow in His grace, and be delighted in His favor.
It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. — Lamentations 3:22
Stretched: Extended; exerted to the utmost
When you follow God into something new in your life, you may feel stretched.
Perhaps you receive a job promotion, and you know you don’t have all the natural skills and knowledge you need to do the new job well. Then you become worried because you think you’re in over your head, but it’s not bigger than God. If He leads you into it, He will help you fulfill the responsibilities that go with it. God’s power and presence enable us to do things we can’t do on our own.
It’s important to remember God is on your side as you go into new situations, because fear and doubt will always be lying in wait to try to keep you from following Him. Don’t let those things hold you back. Remember that God is with you and He’s bigger than any problem you may face. Don’t be afraid to stretch your faith because it will give you greater capacity to fulfill your God-given potential.
For we walk by faith…not by sight or appearance. — 2 Corinthians 5:7
Stability: Steadiness; stableness; firmness; strength to stand without being moved or overthrown
I think one of the greatest things we can do for people is to be an example of stability to them. We need to be steadfast, consistent, and stable in our lives and behavior.
The world today is such an emotionally charged place, it seems ready to explode at any moment, but that is not God’s will for His people.
Jesus said we are in the world, but not of it (see John 17:16). In other words, as believers in Jesus Christ we live in the world, but we should resist acting like it. We cannot respond the way the world responds to life’s situations.
Jesus is our peace; He is the supreme example of stability, and though Him we can enjoy lives of stability, while at the same time being a good example to others.
And there shall be stability in your times, an abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the reverent fear and worship of the Lord is your treasure and His. — Isaiah 33:6

10 Signs To know That Your Partner Is Cheating

Image result for cheating spouse images
You’ve suspected for days, maybe weeks.  Something is wrong or off between you and your spouse, and you’re beginning to wonder if maybe they might be…. NO!  That’s not possible.  Other people have affairs, not you two; what you have is special.  What are the signs that your spouse may be cheating?  There was that thing last week that gave you a gut feeling.   When you brought it up, your spouse twisted it around as if YOU were the one with the jealousy issue!  “You’re just being paranoid–you’re crazy for thinking like that!” they said.  Still there’s that nagging doubt in your mind.
Here are MANY of the signs of a spouse that may be cheating.  These behaviors are only indicators of a cheating spouse and are not absolutes!  Your spouse may have one or two of these behaviors, and they could still be faithful.  There may be legitimate reasons for some of these behaviors.  You two may have a mutual agreement (such as you two talk about it and agree to try to lose weight).  These signs do NOT prove infidelity.  But when you observe several, or maybe MOST, of these behaviors, your marriage may be in trouble!  Again, let us reiterate that these behaviors are only indicators of  an affair.

The Classic Clue:

When you see lipstick on your husband’s shirt or strange hairs on their clothing or in the car.

Signs Your Spouse May Be Cheating 1–Gut Instinct:

  • The telltale sign of a cheating spouse? Having to ask that question in the first place.
  • Your cheating husband or wife stops confiding in you and seeking advice from you.
  • Your intuition (gut feeling) tells you that something is not right.
  • You find small gift-type items that are gifts for someone else and have not been given to you.

Signs Your Spouse May Be Cheating 2–Behavior That Is Not Their Usual Character:

  • When your partner suddenly stops wearing their wedding ring and makes lame excuses why. This also goes for jewelry you might have purchased for them.  You catch them not wearing items they usually wear all time.
  • When they break their established routine at work and home for no apparent or logical reason; erratic behavior.
  • When your mate becomes suddenly forgetful and you have to tell him/her everything several times; their thoughts are obviously elsewhere.
  • When they appears distant, show a lack of interest, or develop an unexplained aloofness that wasn’t there before.
  • When their behavior just doesn’t add up.
  • When your wife sleeps with her purse by the bed, or your husband sneaks out of the house.
  • When your spouse suddenly starts completely ignoring you.  Conversely, when your spouse suddenly begin to treat you extremely nicely…like they are making up for something.
  • When they encourage you to get out more or leave town, as if they’re trying to get you “out of the house.”
  • When your husband or wife begins to intentionally look at or flirt with the opposite sex when in the past, this is something they would not have done.

Signs Your Spouse May Be Cheating 3–Birth Control:

  • When you find birth-control pills in the medicine cabinet, and you’ve had a vasectomy -OR-
  • When you find condoms in the car or in his pockets, and you are on the pill.

Signs Your Spouse May Be Cheating 4–Showering/Cologne:

  • When he or she leaves the house in the morning smelling like their usual fragrance and returns in the evening smelling like something else.
  • When they arrive home and head straight into the shower or bath, and they work an office job.
  • When your spouse’s clothes smell of an unfamiliar perfume or after-shave used by the opposite sex
  • When he or she has worn the same fragrance for years, and suddenly they are wearing something new and wearing MUCH more than usual.

Signs Your Spouse May Be Cheating 5–Uncomfortable Around You:

  • When your mutual friends start acting strangely toward you, because they either know about the cheating or have been told stories about what a horrible spouse you are.
  • When your spouse’s co-workers are uncomfortable in your presence, because either they know about the afair or have heard horror stories to justify it.
  • When your spouse seems less comfortable around you and is “touchy” and easily moved to anger.
  • When your spouse avoids social events with you, as if they want to cover up that they are with you.

Signs Your Spouse May Be Cheating 6–Electronic Clues:

Email clues~

  • When your spouse sets up a new e-mail account and doesn’t tell you about it.
  • When your spouse spends all their time on the email, checking their email, or fooling with email somehow.

  • When they delete an email the minute it comes in, and then delete the trash to make sure you don’t see it.

  • When you notice that your partner loses their ability and desire to show the children the attention they need or a lack of desire to do any fix-ups around the house, e.g., lawn care, painting, cleaning the garage, house repairs, etc. They might turn this around on you at the same time and accuse you of never doing anything or treating the child/children badly.
  • When they are always tired or demonstrate a noticeable lack of energy or interest in the relationship.
  • When they sleep on the sofa some of the night.
  • When you two don’t go to bed together, and they tell you not to wait up when you have always done so.
  • When your spouse suddenly asks about your schedule more often than usual–wanting to know where you’ll be and when.
  • When they talk to you they treat you abusively or with disdain, disrespect or excessive sarcasm. Or. . . they may begin to find fault in everything you do in an attempt to justify their affair.
  • When your spouse is exceedingly critical and sometimes mocking you.
  • When your spouse becomes “accusatory,” asking if you are being true to him/her, usually out of guilt.
  • When they begin to speak more and more harshly to you, or are more sarcastic. Sometimes this is just an attempt to justify their cheating…or to give them an excuse to storm out of the room/house.
  • When you notice that they are reluctant to kiss you or accept your affection and/or they criticize you for showing attention.

  • When they begin to keep a change of clothes hidden in the trunk of the car or an unusual amount of clothes changes at the gym.
  • When the car has unexplainable mileage or a lack of additional mileage. For example, if your husband states that he went out of town yet the odometer indicates that only a distance of 25 miles had been driven. Conversely, if he says that he’s only been to the office that day, yet their odometer shows many more miles had been driven, this too, may be a significant matter.
  • When s/he “goes to the store for groceries” or “goes to get some gas” or “goes to the bank” (a task that should take just a few minutes) and comes home 5 hours later.
  • When you notice increased gas purchases that are inconsistent with the amount of miles on the car.

Ray Stedman A Daily Devotion May 19th 2017- The Path Of Love

20:49:00 Posted by jeremiah hugo

TOPIC- The Path Of Love

Read the Scripture: 1 John 3:11-14

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death (1 John 3:14).

It is rather fascinating that the apostle who wrote this has become known as the apostle of love. But if you read the gospel records of John, you will note that this is not his nature at all. He and his brother James earned from Jesus the title Sons of Thunder (Mark 3:17) because they were constantly wanting to blast back at those who opposed them. John's temperament was not naturally inclined to show love. But when he was born again, there was born into his heart the life of God, and this man began to show love.

Jacob De Shazer bombed Tokyo early in World War II. He was captured by the Japanese and put in prison. He hated his Japanese captors and was so violent and vicious that they feared him. They kept him in solitary confinement because of the hatred with which he lashed out against them. But he obtained a copy of the Bible and began to read it through. In the loneliness of his cell, he came to realize the life that is in Jesus Christ. An amazing change came over this man. His hatred of the Japanese changed completely. He began to love his captors and to show love toward them, and they were utterly astonished by what had happened to him. Instead of burning with wrath, resentment, and viciousness against them, he became the most docile of prisoners, eagerly cooperating with his captors and praying for them.

Ray Stedman A Daily Devotion May 19th 2017

Eventually, the story of his change of heart was written up in a little tract, and, after the war, it fell into the hands of a young Japanese captain, Mitsuo Fuchida, the man who led the air raid against Pearl Harbor and gave the command to drop the bombs on that fateful day of December 7. Mitsuo Fuchida was a hero in Japan after the war because of that exploit and others, but his own heart was empty. Somehow he read the tract that told the story of De Shazer's amazing change of heart. He was arrested and puzzled by the story. From somewhere he obtained a New Testament and began to read it with growing interest. At last he came to the story of the crucifixion. When he read the Lord's words from the cross, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing (Luke 23:34), his heart broke. He realized that this one who could love His enemies and pray for those who persecuted Him was manifesting a quality of life that no natural human being could possibly show. Mitsuo Fuchida became a Christian and an evangelist, telling the story of a love that can change human hearts.

Such love is the sign of the new life. It is a love that you not only extend toward those who love you, but toward those who do not love you. It is a love that does not depend upon a reciprocal relationship but loves the unlovely, the unqualified, the ungrateful, the selfish, and the difficult. This, then, is the character of true love, and it is always evidence that a new life has come, the life born of God.

Lord, I realize that I am not to love others because they love me but because I have been loved by God, and I have in me a life that loves despite any reason to love. Teach me to let that life show through me.
Life Application: Is one of our prerequisites for loving others that they love us first? Apart from having a new Life within we cannot at all evidence the love God commanded us to show.

Memorise: And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. – 2 Samuel 24:24

Read: 2 Samuel 24:16-25 (KJV)

16 And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.

17 And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.

18 And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.

19 And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the LORD commanded.

20 And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.

21 And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

22 And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.

23 All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee.

24 And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
25 And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.

Bible in One Year: Deuteronomy 31-32, Jeremiah 32:26-35, Hymn: Sing hymn 7

MESSAGE:

Sacrificial sowing can deliver an unending harvest to you, make your harvest irreversible, make you the talk of the town and even turn away God’s anger from you. In 2 Samuel 24:1-25, we read about how God was provoked to anger by King David, thereby bringing God’s judgment on the people. So many people died in the ensuing plague. After the first wave of destruction, the angel was about to effect the second phase when God stopped him, while he was on Araunah’s farmland. David’s seer, Prophet Gad, came and instructed him to raise an altar to the Lord on Araunah’s farmland, where the angel was last seen. On arrival, Araunah went to welcome King David and he offered him all he needed to make the sacrifice, but David politely declined it. Why? It is simply because he knew the importance of sacrifice and the power of sacrificial seeds.

“And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.” - 2 Samuel 24:24

When David pleaded with God to temper His justice with mercy and judge him instead of his innocent people, God said, “Alright, I will do something about that. I will overlook your errors, I will forgive you and stop my judgment, but you have to first bring me a sacrifice.” David agreed to give that sacrifice and he turned down Araunah’s offer to make the offering an easy one. He said, “This sacrifice must cost me something. It is a sacrifice in sorrow so that I can go home rejoicing.” Some of us have found ourselves in a similar situation as David, where it was required of us to make painful and costly sacrifices in order to achieve our heart desires. However, instead of going headlong into it, we rather sought and received help from the Araunahs of this world to make the task an easy one. Never accept an affordable or convenient alternative in the place of the sacrifice you need to make in order to enter into your desired breakthrough. If you can make the required sacrifice, you will receive the joy you so desire. If you can make the sacrifice, you can overturn God’s wrath from yourself or your family. If you can stand in the place of prayer long enough and pay the price the situation you are facing requires, you will return with joy. Are you ready to do this?

Action Point: There is no alternative to a sacrifice that should be made. Just ask God for grace to do it.

. . . serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope . . . — Romans 12:11,12

Each generation becomes more addicted to the sedatives of life, to dull the pain of living. Oppressed by a sense of triviality and thwarted purpose, men find no great goal or commitment to draw them, and no inner stimulation to give meaning to their existence. Christ can save you from the bane of boredom.

He waits to give you a fresh sense of direction and to take dissatisfaction out of your life. I talked recently with a man in my own community who was converted to faith in Christ. “I hadn’t known what to do with my leisure time,” he told me, “but now I have a sense of commitment and purpose that I never knew before.”

Prayer for the day: Even the smallest job I do today is part of my service to You, Lord. Help my heart to be so filled with Your Spirit I will rejoice whatever task is set before me.

Topic: Vital Ingredients of Proof-Producing Prayer [Friday May 19, 2017]

Scripture: Take with you words, and turn to the Lord: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously…. Hosea 14:2

Thought For The Day: If you want to pray meaningfully, you must always be in possession of the Bible.

This year, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, has been declared as Our Year of Divine Proofs. We are grateful to God for the proofs we have seen so far in confirmation of His infallible Word.

Notably, one of the keys to seeing Divine proofs in our lives is the knowledge of God. This knowledge of God is assessed at the place of prayer.

Now, what are the things you need for your prayer to produce divine proofs?

a) The revelation of the Word: This is praying with revelation from God’s Word.

b) The atmosphere of worship: Worship provokes Divine Presence at the place of prayer.

c) A listening or hearing attitude: This enhances the receptivity of Divine signals and instructions at the place of prayer

d) Faith expectation: This is praying with expectation and faith.

e) The availability of scripture and scriptural aids: If you want to pray meaningfully, you must always be in possession of the Bible.

f) The testimonies of previous acts of God: What God did for you or for someone else previously is a tool that produces Divine proofs at the place of prayer.

Beloved, as you embark on these proof-producing prayer exercises, I decree the manifestation of Divine proofs in your life; you shall see God’s terrible things in righteousness (Psalms 65:5) in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: If you want to pray meaningfully, you must always be in possession of the Bible.

Assignment (s):

1. Always be in possession of the Bible at the place of prayer.

2. Pray God’s Word as revealed in the Bible.

Prayer: O LORD, baptize me afresh with the Spirit of prayer, in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna May 19, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi – No Half-Hearted Worship

20:34:00 Posted by jeremiah hugo

Topic: No Half-Hearted Worship [Friday May 19, 2017]

Text: 2 Kings 17:24-41

Key Verse: "They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence" (2 Kings 17:33).

You cannot serve God halfway and expect to please Him. Jesus Christ our Lord puts it more comprehensively: "Ye cannot serve God and mammon". Later, Apostle Paul told the Galatian brethren: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked".

The leaders of the heathen Assyrian nation which conquered and destroyed Israel, came face to face with the harsh realities of how not to mix idol worship with worship of the true God. After God allowed them overthrow Israel because of the latter’s repeated disobedience to Him, the Assyrians sent the Israelites into exile and captivity. They then brought in the idol-serving Assyrians to settle in Israel. What followed was most disgusting.

The new inhabitants appeared to be worshipping God, but they did not give up their grip on their gods and pagan lifestyle. They added the God of Israel to their collection and pantheon of idols. In their hearts, they placed God side by side with man-made images. It provoked the anger of God, moving Him to prove His superiority as recorded in 2 Kings 17:25. It was a just recompense to whip them into line, just as God had done to discipline the erring children of Israel. We should beware not to proclaim faith in the Lord and at the same time, holding on to worldly values and sentiments not in accordance with the way of righteousness and holiness.

God cannot accommodate such dual loyalties. He must take the entire space in our hearts and lives. His Word must form the basis of our projections and perception of life. Anything short of this cannot prepare one for the Second Coming of Christ and heaven. Aspiring to receive Christ and the place of abode He has prepared for His believers demands absolute preparedness both outwardly and inwardly. There must be no room for the believer to have one leg in the world and another in the Kingdom.

Thought for the day: It is unwise and the height of folly to serve God with other "gods".

Topic: Don't Waste Time Wondering [Friday May 19, 2017]

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. - Ephesians 5:17

So many believers wring their hands and worry about whether or not they’re praying according to God’s will. “Oh, dear me,” they say, “I certainly can’t expect God to do something for me that’s outside His will.” And they’re absolutely right.

But they don’t need to waste time standing around looking puzzled. They need to grab their Bibles and find out what the will of God is.

God has made some very specific promises in His Word and it’s His will to fulfill every one of them in your life. In fact, those promises are divinely guaranteed by a contract that’s been signed in the blood of Jesus.

Think of it this way. Your Bible is the last will and testament of Jesus Christ. It is a record of your inheritance. Everything that belongs to you has been written down in that Book and the smartest thing you can do is to find out what is in it. Don’t leave it lying on the coffee table and hit the floor crying, “Oh, God! Oh, God! I’m searching for the truth.”

Pick up your Bible from the coffee table and find out what belongs to you! Find out how you need to change to get in line with God’s will.

Most people don’t do that. They try to change God instead. They’ll go on and on trying to convince God just how badly they hurt or how poor they are. They’ll beg and plead and wheedle, all the while acting as though they had to somehow change God’s mind about the situation. Those folks are in for a long wait.

God is never going to change. The Bible says He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. His will is too. So don’t waste your time wondering if your prayers are in line with it. Get the Book and base your prayers on it. Then you can rest assured the answer is on the way!

Our Daily Bread Devotional, May 19, 2017 - Prepare the Child

Topic: Prepare the Child [Friday May 19, 2017]

Read: Psalm 78:1–8, Bible in a Year: 1 Chronicles 7–9; John 6:22–44

We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. Psalm 78:4

A phrase on many parenting websites says, “Prepare the child for the road, not the road for the child.” Instead of trying to remove all obstacles and pave the way for the children in our life, we should instead equip them to deal with the difficulties they encounter on the road ahead.

The psalmist wrote, “We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. He decreed statutes . . . , which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them . . . and they in turn would tell their children” (Ps. 78:4–6). The goal is that “they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands” (v. 7).

Think of the powerful spiritual impact others had on us through what they said and how they lived. Their conversation and demonstration captured our attention and kindled a fire in us to follow Jesus just as they did.

It’s a wonderful privilege and responsibility to share God’s Word and His plan for our lives with the next generation and the generations to come. No matter what lies ahead on their road through life, we want them to be prepared and equipped to face it in the strength of the Lord.

Prayer: Father in heaven, we seek Your wisdom and guidance to prepare the children we know and love to walk with You in faith.

Through conversation and demonstration, help prepare children to follow the Lord on the road ahead.

Insight:

Psalm 78 is an “historical psalm” (a psalm full of historical facts). Other historical psalms are Psalm 105–107, 114, 135, and 136. In Psalm 78 Asaph recounts key events covering 450 years of history, reminding the Jews that God has commanded them to teach their children and children’s children about Him so that future generations will love and worship Him (vv. 5–8). In His covenant with Abraham, God said Abraham was chosen for this same purpose: “so that [Abraham] will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord” (Gen. 18:19). Deuteronomy also emphasizes that parents have been entrusted with the sacred duty and divine privilege of teaching their children about God (4:9; 6:6–9; 11:19–21).

Look for opportunities this week to talk with your children, grandchildren, or others in your life about God and His Word.

WALK THROUGH
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me…"
(Psalm 23:4, NKJV)

TODAY'S WORD:
Do you ever feel like you are walking through the valley of the shadow of death? During the tough times, it’s easy to get discouraged. I love what it says in the verse, “though I walk through…” No matter what you are facing today, know this: you are not alone, and you are just walking through. You don’t have to stop and live in the tough times. They are only temporary.

I encourage you today; don’t allow fear to paralyze you in the middle of “the valley of the shadow of death.” Remember, God is with you. He is walking beside you. He is strengthening you. He is making a way of escape for you. He is lining up people and situations to bring you out of that tough place into a place of strength and victory.

Don’t give up! Press on and walk through! Begin to get a vision of your life on the other side. See yourself more loving, more faithful, stronger and more blessed than ever before. As you keep moving forward and walking through, you will get to the other side and experience the victory God has in store for you!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. Thank You for walking with me even in the hard times. I trust that You are taking me through my circumstances to a place of victory and strength in Jesus’ name. Amen.

…The righteous gives and does not spare. — Proverbs 21:26 NKJV

I once read a story in Guideposts magazine, a remarkable account of how love changed a person's life. A Christian woman lived next door to an elderly lady who never came out of her house or even raised her window shades to let light into her home. This lady’s husband had died, and she herself had endured a stroke, which had left her lonely and bitter.

The Christian woman and her two young children began trying to reach out to the elderly recluse, but every time they did, she rejected their advances. They baked cookies every week for a long time and delivered them to their neighbor’s door. The first time, she opened the door just a crack, accepted the cookies, thanked them, and closed the door.

The neighbor’s response was not what the Christian woman had hoped for, but she lovingly persisted. And eventually love did work! The elderly lady accepted a casserole from her and said more than just a short thank-you. As the visits continued, the elderly woman gradually began to chat longer. Finally, one day, the Christian woman’s children picked some flowers from their garden and delivered them to their neighbor. Eventually, they all became good friends. The elderly lady got her life back. She opened her blinds, her door, and her heart, and she began to live again—all because someone who loved God was determined to love her.

Many people in the world today are just like the elderly neighbor. They have had sadness or difficulties in their lives and have become bitter. They seem to reject love, yet love is what they need most. Be a person who gives of yourself and your resources to reach out and show love to someone who desperately needs it.

Love Others Today: Do you know someone who is angry, sad, or bitter? How can you show love to that person?

Ray Stedman A Daily Devotionl May 18th 2017- One Or The Other

05:25:00 Posted by jeremiah hugo

TOPIC- One Or The Other

Read the Scripture: 1 John 3:9-10

This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are; Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother (1 John 3:10).

Someone has said that people may be divided into two classes, the righteous and the unrighteous, and the classifying is always done by the righteous! Certainly it is true that humanity is divided into two classes—not three, as we often fondly imagine. We would like to think there are the children of the devil, the children of God, and then a vast group in between who are morally neutral, neither devilish nor godly. But God says No, there are not three classes.

Nor is there one class. There are many today who would have us believe that all people everywhere are, by virtue of their natural birth, children of God. But the Bible never sustains that idea for even a moment. These words of John are the echo of the words of the Lord Jesus Himself when He said to certain Pharisees of His day, You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire (John 8:44). This is what the phrase children of the devil means. It does not mean that the devil created them, but it means that they reflect the nature and characteristics of the devil.
All of this is in harmony with the scriptural view of humanity. People, the Bible says, are vessels. They do not have power in themselves, nor do they have life in themselves. They are made to contain life. They are made to hold someone, designed to contain and express the life of another. In the original intention of God, that life was to be the life of God Himself. People were made for God. Pascal said there is in every person a God-shaped vacuum that only God can fill. We were made for God. Ray Stedman A Daily Devotionl May 18th 2017- One Or The Other

But because of humanity's fall in the garden, people today are no longer containing and expressing the life of God but are expressing the perverted, twisted life of the devil. Every one of us was born into the family of the devil. We were born children of the devil because we are part of the fallen race of Adam. The tendency and proclivity toward sin, that twisted perversion, is passed along to us from our forefathers, along with the color of our eyes and all other physical features. We are born with a bent toward evil. You need to live with only a few babies to see this demonstrated. How utterly self-centered babies are! In their thinking, everything exists for them. The whole world is there only to serve their particular need, and that, in essence, is the expression of the life of the devil.

It is only by new birth that we become children of God. This is why Jesus said to that cultured, honored, respected leader of his own day, Nicodemus, who came to him by night, No one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again (John 3:3) All your knowledge, your education, your morality, or your religion is of no value here. Unless you are born again, you are still part and parcel of the family and kingdom of Satan. The whole thrust of the gospel is always in this direction. It is to deliver people from the kingdom of Satan and to bring them into the kingdom of God.

People who have a grateful heart are always praising God. You often hear them say, “God is good!” They know that God is the reason for every blessing they get.

But there are those who look to God for blessings and when they get blessed, they just go on their merry way. Their hearts are captivated by the blessings instead of the One who has blessed them.

Jesus had an encounter with both these types of people when He walked into a village one day. Ten lepers cried out to Him, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” (Luke 17:13) Now, when you call out to Jesus for mercy, He always hears you. On another occasion, when two blind men cried out to Him, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” He took the time to give them their miracles. (Matthew 9:27–30)

So these 10 lepers cried out to Him for mercy. He stopped, looked at them and said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And “as they went, they were cleansed”. (Luke 17:14) But only one came back and fell at Jesus’ feet, giving Him thanks. Notice the very sad words of Jesus that followed: “Were there not 10 cleansed? But where are the nine?” (Luke 17:17)

The other nine obviously knew that it was Jesus who had cleansed them. Yet, they did not bother to go back and thank Him. My friend, let it be said of you that when the blessings come, you remember to give God the praise, glory and honor, and acknowledge that He is the source of every blessing in your life.

Do you know that when the man came back to thank Jesus, he received the additional blessing of becoming whole? Jesus said to him, “Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.” (Luke 17:19, KJV) He was not just cleansed of leprosy, he got his missing fingers and toes back!

My friend, when your heart is thankful toward God, you position yourself for even greater blessings!

The bible tell us in the book of Isaiah 40:6-8 that all men are like grass and there glory is like the flowers of the field. The grasses withers and the flowers fall. Grasses don't last forever neither do flowers. It shows that you will not live forever here on earth. We all are pilgrims answerable to the creator when eternity comes.
You may wonder while am telling you these. Its because life is too short to be wasted.
Grasses can either be green, healthy and blossoming with flowers, enticing the birds of the air all around it or it can be brown and withering without flowers nor birds around it.
In this contest, you are the grass and the flowers is what you have to offer, the birds are the people around you. You may choose to impact the lives of the people around you or not. Whether you will blossom or not depends on you. It depends on how often you draw power from the creator.
Isaiah 40:29 says that he giveth power to the faint and to them that has no might he increaseth strength. When your blossomness is fading and you feel weak as you journey through life, all you have to do is draw strength from Him by waiting upon Him as written in Isaiah 40:31. He is the fountain of life as seen in the book of Rev 21:6. He also is the fountain of living water. To sustain your life as a grass, you need to draw power from him. Let the people around you feel your impact before departure into eternity.
As stated earlier, life is too short to be wasted. Even when you blossom remember that you will not last for ever but Gods plan in your life will. All the life you impacted will continue to yield good things to your credit. My friend don't just live for living sake. Don't be a half dead grass that has nothing to offer to the birds.
Alfred the great lived for 50 years. His works cannot be forgotten in the history of mankind. He was known to defeat the Vikings as the king of Wessex through the power of God. Were other Emperor failed, King Alfred succeeded. This was because He drew power from God and defeated the enemies.
Thomas Edison cannot be forgotten today because his light is always shining on us everyday.
What can you be remembered for when you are gone to eternity. Remember life is always too short to be wasted so make good use of your life today. Never forget this ''when it seems as if you are fading, draw power from the divine source -God-''.

Topic: Defending His Name [Thursday 18, May 2017]

Memorise: Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known. – Psalm 106:8

Read: Psalm 106:7-9 (KJV)

7 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

9 He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

Bible in One Year: Deuteronomy 29-30, Jeremiah 32:16-2 5, Hymn: Sing hymn 12

MESSAGE:

The Bible declares that our God is a very present help in time of trouble (Psalm 46:1). This means that He is ever-present or always ready to help in the time of trouble. There are several reasons why God makes His help available to a person. Understanding these reasons and applying them to your life will go a long way in helping you experience God as an ever-present help. One of these reasons is to fulfil His promises. God is very committed to His promises; hence, Psalm 89:34 says,

“My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.”

If He has purposed to help you, He will not change His mind midway. Number 23:19 says,

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”

God’s word had integrity. He regards His words above His Name (Psalm 138:2). Every promise He has made to you shall be fulfilled speedily! God cannot violate His word, so you can be sure that He will keep His promise to help you.

Another reason why God reaches out to help a man is for the sake of His Name. If you genuinely belong to God, He will help you because you bear His Name and are called by His Name in this world (Acts 15:17). No wonder Psalm 106:8 says,

“Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known”

That means His intervention goes beyond your asking. He will intervene to defend His Name and show His power. At certain bus stops in life, some people will challenge you by asking “Where is your God?” some may even say “if your God is truly alive, He should have delivered you by now.” If you are in such situation, take heart and be unmovable. In Daniel 3:14-29, King Nebuchadnezzar initially asked the three Hebrew children “who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?” However, By the time God was through with him, he publicly confessed that there was no God like their God. Is your child in a situation that appears hopeless? Is your business or career going through some impossible storms? God will step into your situation and calm the storms! The Lord is speaking peace to every impossible situation you are up against right now. He will surely bring you out of the storm, not just because of you, but because of His Name that you bear. In that situation you are going through, the Lord will defend His Name, and He will not put you to shame. He will demonstrate His power just to give you the last laugh in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point: Father, in this present situation I find myself, arise and defend your matchless Name.

Our Daily Bread Devotional, May 18, 2017 - Clothed by God

Topic: Clothed by God [Thursday May 18, 2017]

Read: Zechariah 3, Bible in a Year: 1 Chronicles 4–6; John 6:1–21

See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you. Zechariah 3:4

When my kids were toddlers, they would play outside in our sodden English garden and quickly become covered in mud and dirt. For their good and the good of my floor, I’d remove their clothes at the door and wrap them in towels before sticking them in the bath. They’d soon move from dirty to clean with the addition of soap, water, and hugs.

In a vision given to Zechariah, we see Joshua, a high priest, covered in rags that represent sin and wrongdoing (Zech. 3:3). But the Lord makes him clean, removing his filthy clothes and covering him in rich garments (3:5). The new turban and robe signify that the Lord has taken his sins from him.

We too can receive God’s cleansing as we become free of our wrongdoing through the saving work of Jesus. As a result of His death on the cross, we can have the mud and sins that cling to us washed away as we receive the robes of God’s sons and daughters. No longer are we defined by what we’ve done wrong (whether lying, gossiping, stealing, coveting, or other), but we can claim the names God gives to those He loves—restored, renewed, cleansed, free.

Ask God to remove any filthy rags you’re wearing so you too can put on the wardrobe He has reserved for you.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, through Your saving death on the cross we can find acceptance and love. May we receive this gift for Your glory.

Who can wash away my sin? Jesus!

Insight:

In today’s passage Satan is not rebuked because he has no grounds to accuse Joshua. Satan is rebuked because Joshua’s current condition (dressed in dirty clothes—symbolic of judgment and sin) was not his final condition. God changed his situation by clothing him with clean garments, symbolic of God’s righteousness.

Topic: The Power-Producing Prayer [Thursday May 18, 2017]

Scripture: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. Ephesians 6:18.

Thought For The Day: Prayer produces power in the life of a Christian.

It has been established that men and women of prayer are men and women of power. Prayer produces power in the life of a Christian.

One typical example of a man whose prayer life produced power was Paul the Apostle. In 1 Corinthians 14:18, the Bible makes it clear that Paul prayed in tongues more than the whole church of the Corinthians; he was literally praying always. What a mobile prayer dynamo he was!

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Paul admonished the Thessalonians to pray without ceasing. He was telling them his practice. No wonder, he was a man who exported power, even the power of the Gospel of Christ to the Gentiles to such a point that handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them (Acts 19:12).

Demons were checked out because he prayed in tongues more than every other person in his days. This was a man who was stoned and left to die but woke up and said, ‘Let us go to the next city for crusade.’ (Acts 14:19-20 paraphrased).

Beloved, your life shall produce power as you embark on persistent prayer from today, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: Prayer produces power in the life of a Christian.

Assignment(s):

1. Connect the power of God by engaging in a persistent life of Prayer.

2. Pray according to God’s promises in Scripture.

Prayer: O LORD, I ask for the grace to prevail with You at the place of prayer, in Jesus’ Name.

Topic: Ceaseless Cry [Thursday May 18, 2017]

Text: Psalm 119:145-152

Key Verse: "I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word" (Psalm 119:147).

Calling on the Lord in prayer for expected answers demands the fulfillment of some conditions. The person praying must have faith in the One he is petitioning; he must rid his heart of all worldly distractions; he must have intimate knowledge of the God he is praying to; he must joyfully invoke promises that God has made concerning answers to prayers; finally, he must "pray without ceasing."

It is pleasing to note that in the passage for today’s meditation, the Psalmist met all the scriptural requirements. He proves that he is approaching a Lord, whose statutes he is familiar with. He promises to honour His laws. Acknowledging God’s lovingkindness, he vows to allow those commandments to quicken him. He needs this so that he would not be like those "that are far from thy law." Back in verses 147 and 148, he spent the night praying, reading the word of God and meditating on the precious promises of the Lord. Finally in verse 152, he expresses full assurance of his intimacy with his faith in the unfailing word of God. It is the knowledge of the word of God and faith in the One who authored it that liberates and prepares one for heaven.

The believer uses the promises in the Bible to pray and receive answers. It is the sure word of God the sinner reads or hears that convicts him or her to repent and receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour. It is the same Word the runaway backslider returns to in order to make peace with God. It is this same gospel of salvation we all must take to the lost world in dire need of a solution to its myriad of problems. God is waiting to answer their prayers if they call on Him in faith.

Thought for the day: The Gospel of Christ is the cure-all pill the sick world needs.

Kenneth Copeland’s daily devotional May 18, 2017 - He'll Be Listening

Topic: He'll Be Listening [Thursday May 18, 2017]

nd this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. - 1 John 5:14-15

Have you ever been in prayer and suddenly had the disturbing sensation that God simply wasn’t listening?

It’s happened to all of us. But few of us know just what to do about it. We just limp along praying the same old prayers, half-hoping those prayers are heard and half-suspecting they’re not.

Today I want to show you how to resolve that dilemma once and for all. But let me warn you, I’m not going to slap you on the back and assure you God will listen to any old doubtful, self-centered thing you say to Him. He won’t. He’s only promised to listen to prayers that are prayed according to His will. The Apostle John says when you pray like that, you’ll know that you have the petitions you desire of Him.

The word petition is defined as “a formal, written request addressed to a sovereign superior for a particular right or grace,” and that’s exactly what you need when you’re praying about something serious.

How do you put together a solid petition, one that’s in line with the will of God?

First, you’ll have to roll up your sleeves and dig in to the written Word. Find scriptures that apply to your situation and make those the foundation for your petition.

Then get on your knees and consult with the Holy Spirit. Let Him help you develop your petition in detail. The best way to do that is to spend time praying in other tongues. (See Romans 8:26-27.) Expect God to reveal things from His heart to yours. He wants you to know His will. So, while you’re praying, listen!

Last of all, write it down. Make a formal written request by writing down every scripture you find. Also, as you’re listening to the Holy Spirit for the details, write down the impressions and ideas He gives you.

Take your time. Let the Spirit develop your prayer. Let the truth He reveals to you settle in and begin to work in you. Get your petition firmly in mind, then when you’re ready, present it to God.

Believe me, He’ll be listening.

Topic: Love Covers [Thursday May 18, 2017]

. . . Let us stop just saying we love people; let us really love them, and show it by our actions. — 1 John 3:18 (TLB)

The Bible declares that we who follow Christ should be just as much in love with each other as God was in love with us when He sent His Son to die on the cross. The moment we come to Christ, Scripture says, God gives us supernatural love that is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. The greatest demonstration of the fact that we are Christians is that we love one another. Why not go out of our way to be a friend to someone whose skin is a different color from ours? Love does more to solve our problems than anything else does. Of all the gifts God offers His children, love is the greatest. Of all the fruits of the Holy Spirit, love is the first.

Prayer for the day: Jesus, loving Lord, teach me real love—mine is often shallow in my relationship to others.

Memorise: And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. – Psalm 106:15

Read: Genesis 16:1-5 (KJV)

1 Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.

2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.

3 And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.

4 And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.

5 And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.

MESSAGE:

A lot of people have gotten their fingers burnt in the place of seeking an alternative to God’s promise. When God’s promise is seemingly delayed, some Christians do not have the strength of character to keep waiting on the Lord and holding on to His promises; they therefore seek out and accept man’s alternative to God’s precious promises. Not only does man’s alternative take you off God’s course and provide you with quick fixes that cannot really fix anything, they also give you momentary joy that cannot absolve you of sorrow. This was the experience of Sarah. In today’s Bible reading, after Sarah gave her maid, Hagar, to Abraham to raise children through her, she was happy and relieved that her problem of barrenness seemed solved. But her relief soon turned into grief as her happiness became sorrow. Genesis 16:4 says,

“And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.”

Sarah took good care of Hagar, in expectation of using her as a means to an end. For the purpose of child-bearing, she exempted her from the usual chores that her fellow maids would perform. However, the moment Hagar conceived, the tables turned against Sarah. Suddenly, all attention shifted to the new queen of the house. Everyone and everything had to be at her beck and call. She no longer had regard for her mistress. Realising she now had what Abraham earnestly wanted; she used her pregnancy as an excuse for gross misbehaviour. She took over Abraham’s attention and the poor man hardly even had time for Sarah anymore. When she was disobedient and her mistress tried to correct her, she would simply tell her, “Madam, if you were ever pregnant, you would understand what I am going through.” That was the beginning of Sarah’s sorrow.

When you are tired of waiting for God’s will, plan or timing, and you decide to follow one of the alternatives that comes your way, you will only be hurting yourself. May you not use your own hands to undo yourself! When God blesses you, He removes every form of sorrow from it (Proverbs 10:22), but whatever blessing you think you can derive from substituting God’s plan with an alternative will only be short-lived and will definitely come with sorrow. Some people who knew and turned down God’s will in marriage, following the dictates of their flesh, ended up in sorrow. A good number of them are secretly weeping today. They cannot cry out because people warned them before venturing into such marriages, but their ears were deaf to those warnings. In your own interest, take time to find out God’s will for you in every area of your life and patiently follow it. In years to come, you will understand why that was the best decision you ever made.

Key Point: It is better not to be blessed, than to be blessed and have sorrow with it.

Text: Luke 19:41-48

Key Verse: "And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation" (Luke 19:44).

A couple of times in the holy Scriptures, God laments the ignorance of His people concerning weighty matters. Proverbs 29:18 says, "Where there is no vision, the people perish" while in Isaiah 5:13, God says, "…my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst."

Our Lord Jesus talked of the same theme as He wept for the ignorance that had enveloped the people and their leaders. They did not foresee the doom ahead, when according to prophecy, Jerusalem and its temple would be razed by the invading Roman forces. God foretold this in Daniel 9:24. But the people of Israel still lived in ignorance in the days of our Lord, when during a private discussion with the disciples, He spoke of a time that "there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down" (Mark 13:2). Rather than take note of the Lord’s prophecy and make changes, the children of Israel compounded their impending woes by defiling the temple.

Swiftly, Jesus moved in to cleanse it and cast out the agents of filth. Spiritual defilement and subsequent death arise from lack of knowledge about the true nature of the Kingdom of God. The vacuum where the laws of God should be seated in the heart is filled by false doctrine. This drives a person into sin and a misleading sense of security that Jesus will not come again.

The Lord’s expectation is that such would repent and turn to God. But this divine patience and mercy would not be forever. Today’s believer should also not be ignorant of the fact of the imminent return of Jesus. They must prepare for Him by living righteously, preaching the word of God to sinner and taking the DAWN (Discipling A Whole Nation) project seriously.

Thought for the day: Spiritual ignorance is the sinner’s graveyard.
